Art Classes for Kids

ARTina is a community of young artists based in
Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania.
Classes
Mondays 4:00-5:00 PM [8-11 year olds]
Tuesdays 4:00-5:15 PM [10-14 year olds]
Thursdays 4:00-5:00 PM [6-9 year olds]
Thursdays 5:15-6:15 PM [6-9 year olds]
In our Multi-Media class we learn and explore a variety of materials and techniques: drawing, painting, fiber arts, and sculpture. Students will learn how to make objects appear three dimensional on the paper by using specific pencil stroke, techniques. They will also improve their knowledge of values. Graphic pencils, lighting composition, foreground, and background.
Every class we start with a warm up. This is a still life where students will practice to observe what the actual objects look like. It is a way for us to get our hands loose. It is a quick, 10-minute exercise. The next project is usually what the class is about.
We will learn from the famous masters. We try many things. We might draw a subject that we have never thought of doing. We get out of our comfort zone and discover new themes, techniques, artists, and most of all, we do it in a fun way.

Cursive Writing 1 Tuesdays 5:30-6:00PM
Cursive Writing 2 Tuesdays 6:10-6:40PM
In this fun and focused class, students will learn the art of cursive handwriting through guided practice and creative exercises. We'll cover proper letter formation, connections, and techniques to improve both legibility and style. Perfect for building confidence and fine motor skills, this class helps young writers develop a timeless skill with a personal touch.

In each session we’ll explore all kinds of art-making techniques- clay, drawing, paint, collage, sculpting and more!
Classes at ARTina incorporate music appreciation lessons to teach students about the lives and works of influential artists from the past and modern day, all over the world.

Wednesdays 5-5:45 PM
If you have a toddler that loves creating art, drawing, or even playing then this is the class for you! In this class, every week we have theme. This is a creative class where we make new discoveries.
We may have never done it, it might be your first time to work with paint, pottery, or scissors. The whole idea is to discover new mediums together. The amazing thing is that they learn together with friends the same age in a fun manner. There is no wrong way. We will be creating and inventing new things!

Unleash your imagination in this fun and inspiring art class. Explore a variety of creative techniques like drawing, painting, and mixed media while learning about color, composition, and expression. Each project encourages individuality and artistic confidence in a supportive, hands-on environment.

Join in Creative Art Nights from 5:30-8 PM every 3rd Friday of the month!
This fun evening of creativity includes Pizza (2 slices) and a drink per student.

Saturday Afternoons 3-4:30PM
In this class, students learn about the lives of various artists, their style, and their best known works. In true art tradition, students will gain experience and knowledge by copying the artwork of old masters. (We promise it isn’t as intimidating as it sounds!)
While we value tradition, we encourage students to develop their own style. They will also take part in art competitions throughout the year.
